ASTM A1112
Introduced in 2018, the ASTM A1112/A1112M-18 standards cover new high-strength HSS alloys, including Grades 70, 80, 90, 100 & 110 HSS.
This is the spec that pertains to the high-strength, low-weight Stratusteel HSS line from Bull Moose.
A1112 tube provides new options for welded, riveted, or bolted construction of bridges, buildings, and similar structural applications. And Stratusteel, with its 110 ksi yield strengths, provides new options for other innovative, weight-saving uses such as:

We can optimize wall thickness and outer dimensions/contours for your specific needs. Customizing for your exact application saves you from buying bulkier stock than you really need…making Stratusteel a high- value custom product for a standard steel price! Here’s an example: Your design shows that a 3.83” x 5.75” x 0.197” HSS will work on your product (weighing 11.98 lbs/ft.). If the nearest size in conventional HSS is 4” x 6” x .025” (weighing 15.62 lbs/ft.), you’ll experience an unnecessary 23% increase in weight and thus a 23% increase in cost! Stratusteel would enable you to avoid those increases with efficient, optimal dimensions and weight.

Stratusteel® from Bull Moose is revolutionary hollow structural steel tubing that’s two times harder than conventional steel… achieves strength ratings in excess of 100 and 110 KSI...at a weight that’s as much as 35% below other steel.
This robust technology enables cranes to reach higher, trailers to carry more weight, rescue ladders to extend farther — all without compromises in strength.
About Stratusteel
STRONGER: Stratusteel achieves strength ratings from 100 to 110 KSI, compared the 50 to 80 KSI ratings of conventional steel. Our product is stronger which means you can load more or extend further.
LIGHTER: Living up to its stratus-cloud namesake, Stratusteel is as much as 35% lighter than standard steel products.
TOUGHER: Stratusteel is 2x harder than standard steel as measured by the Rockwell hardness scale. As a result, products made of Stratusteel have an impact-resistant toughness that enables them to take a beating and look newer, longer. This hardness also enables extendable products (such as booms and fire truck ladders) to extend farther without sway or bounce.
