The amount
of residual stress in the Bull Moose Tube product is minimal. Conventional processes rely on cold working to increase
the physical properties of yield and tensile strength allowing
the tubular section to meet the minimum requirements of
ASTM A 500. At Bull Moose Tube, our steel strip is purchased
to meet the ASTM guidelines without having to hope that
cold working will allow the product to conform to ASTM A
500 strength requirements. Our steel chemistry requirements
are more stringent than ASTM minimum ensuring our product
quality.

This
process allows for a number of benefits for our customers.
Direct form allows for fewer roll stations leading to
faster changeovers from one size to another that results
in more frequent rolling cycles. Bull Moose Tube is known
for having the fastest cycle times on the most sizes in
the tubing industry. In fact we schedule to roll most
of our popular sizes every 3 weeks. As a result of direct
forming, Bull Moose Tube HSS has tighter tolerances on
twist, straightness, concavity and convexity. Another
benefit of our unique process is minimal tooling time
and costs for special and Hard Metric sizes.
Direct
forming allows Bull Moose Tube to provide deep rectangles
rarely manufactured in the industry in such sizes as 2"
X 12" and 3 ½" X 12", while all
the time maintaining the flatness of sides and dimensional
tolerance other mills have difficulty meeting. Bull Moose
Tube is one of the few tube manufacturers to roll 5/8
wall material; and we do so with shorter lead times. As
well, Bull Moose Tube can roll 100 ksi steel for the demanding
engineering projects of today. |
